Between Chicago, Michigan, Indiana, and Kentucky, this family of five successfully survived each other enough for one of us to actually sit down, sanely, and write about it.

There's something admirable about a family piling into a vehicle to experience the open road. Sure there are a lot of accessories for the twenty-first century family road trip. However, Jon and I sadistically pat ourselves on the back for not subscribing to any of them. Good old fashioned threats of violence and shrill, blood curdling verbal abuse to straighten three kids complaining that so-n-so is too close or something about someone being half another's age and yet he's the bully. To that I remind Gil of his natural advantage OF BEING OLDER and we continue the Alphabet Game.

Were we crazy to embark upon this journey? Maybe. But it was all worth it. Dog and all. 49 of 50 state license plates found AND Washington DC. All but Montana. We did it.
